Northern New Mexico~

Caravaning!
Next stop Heron Lake!

Tough being a dog at the potluck.

Overnight on the way home.

I have to say I am a HUGE fan of airstream caravaning now! Just traveled 1200+ miles with fellow Airstreamers Louis & Sergio two great friends and had a blast. We journeyed for a 4 Corners Unit Rally. The rally I have to say other than seeing old friend and meeting new ones was not the best rally.

Summer~ Home again?

Traveling hard work for an old Dane.
Brinnon, WA my own private camprground.

Hannah came down the to beach one time to help me with oysters after that she watched from above.

Oysters everywhere!

This was the ferry dock between Brinnon and town across the bay back in the 40's now my friends property.

Sissy's house. My big dog, sissy little dog and ofcourse precious child.

My best girls; nieces Shanda 22 & Teagan 6. My heart knows no greater love.

Me & Teagan

Rex; just being sexy. He can't help it.

Washington State Park, amazing. Camp host was a dick tho :(

Zion National Park

July 7th was the beginning of a summer adventure back to the Pacific Northwest. The valley of the sun was heating up, time to make my escape. First stop, Flagstaff for a week. Even though I have lived here in Arizona for 2 + years I had only driven threw Flag and not taken the time to stop and get to the know the town. I am glad I did this trip! The weather was perfection, mid 80's at the highest, I stayed at Woody Mountain Rv Park which is rustic and as the name suggests Woody. It was the best place to be during the summer heat and for some time before making my journey north to the place I lived most of my life Seattle. A few of my favorite things about Flagstaff is you get get anything you need there and not have to drive all over from the campground...huge plus for me. Food...great food there. Shopping...huller....the boutiques there had some items I sweat were made just for me! I so enjoyed my week in Flagstaff wonder when I can go back?
From Flagstaff it was days on end of driving but I played it safe and smart this trip only driving 4-6 hours a day, getting into some pre reaseached rv park well in time to clean up, take care of the pups and myself, enuring a good nights sleep, ready to continue on the next day.
1st stop: Zion National Park...can I just say words can not descrobe the beauty! You want to drive slow, taking it all in. The camgrund I stayed at there was right in the river, huge back in spot, I was lucky to arrive at noon to take full advantage! Met a wonderful family from the UK who parked next to me. The wife/mother is also Scottish, we exhanged travel tips for our countries...only camping does this happen!
Next stop: Provo, Utah. Just a few miles of the highway was a lovely little campround called Lakeside, although I saw no lake, hum. It was a slice of heaven, not fancy but just what this girl needed, laundry, cable and a hot shower!
From there Caldwell, Idado...what can you say about Caldwell other than it was nice to have an rv park close to the highway that was like camping in someone's yard...set up, ate, slept.
Then in Kennewick, WA was a Army Corp of Eng. campgorund on the river that was amazing at just $12 a night, with electric! The pics will tell the story since I pretty much parked and slept.
What I had been so looking forward to was my Uncle Larry's "Summer Bash" he throws this party every year, I have never attended. No need to go into why. This year I was so looking forward to it and glad I went! I saw family and friends I hadn't seen in years. Of course it was in record heat even for Eastern Washington, Ephrata to be exact. Uncle Larry is my pops brother, since my dad passed in 1997 from an accident and my mom in 2001 from breast cancer, I haven't done many family gatherings, I've been missing out! Larry has this wonderful home there in Ephrata, enough room for 3 large rv's and my little one, plus tent camping for other family members. It was the best time I have had in a long time and that is all I can say now without getting just a little choked up.
Woodinville, WA: This is the town, the house, the place my parents moved me to in 1976. I never did like it there and if it weren't for the fact that my sister lives in the house we grew up in and she happens to have one my favorite girls on earth as her daughter I wouldn't have done back, not to mention it has become "wine country" and I got to visit some of my wine making pals! Girl has to have grape on the road...two cases enough? HUM. I stayed in sissy's yard for a week, played with kid and didn't get nearly enough rest before heading up to the Olympic Peninsula. I always love the ferry ride across, about a half hour of heaven floating across to the other side. By now I am getting jazzed, family done, its Girlfriend time! Two nights in Port Angeles before going to the Lake for a long weekend to launch my floaty, cocktail in holder, tied up to some pf the best friends a girl could ever have.
Now I am getting a wee bit road weary, so much moving around from place to place time to relax, kick back, stay someplace a while right? Yeah, right. The Sunday night after the Lake party I parked the traila at a friends place...I can not go into details but lets just say, it was like Kauai and I needed to sleep ALL the next day getting up only to walk, feed the pooches and myself. Those in the know...you know.
By this time I have been on the road 4 weeks, a record here for time spent in Airstream. Hood Canal on the Peninsula sounds like a place I can spend some time and boy do I. A view to die for, oysters literally at my feet, total privacy on friends property, can be beat. Some sun, some drizzle, a whole lotta laying around, reading and watch tv in the traila. Peace and quiet. No town to visit close by except for the essential needs. Brinnon has a restaurant, a little grocery if you can call it that and a place to buy seafood in case you are not able to catch your own. Not a mecca by any means but a good place to chill out. That I did for a solid week or more then it it hit me...Go home!
I was meant to travel a few more weeks, those reservations were canceled and I beat feet for home...sweet desert heat...big bed, big tv, big sofa and big shower. No place like home!

Road Fever

With my two favorite girls Shanda, now 22 and Teagan, now 6. Auntie Loves you, can't wait to see you again! Only pic I have of all 3 of us together, that will change this summer.
Warming up here in Surprise, most of May was triple didgits, I am itching to hit the highway for another adventure. Seeing friends and family, finding new places, living the dream. Leaving town July 12 going to take my time head up threw Utah, going to spend the night on a river at Zion National Park, I got the last spot available, how lucky am I?
My Pop's brother Larry has a big "summer bash" every year in Eastern WA, this will be my first time attending. My little niece Teagan is hitching a ride with family and will join me for a couple days of Auntie Camping, I can't wait. Miss my red headed Puddin' Pop!
After that I will make my way up to the Olympic Pennisula for some camping with the Spring Training Crew...woohoo! Most of all I am desperately in need of time at Mark & Besty's place on Hood Canal, eating oysters off the beach and chillin' like no bodies business. Been a lot of changes this year, my soul is stirring. Don't know what is coming next but I am ready for whatever comes my way...
Update: Getting more antsy as the days pass and departure gets closer. I want so much to go get Lucy and start packing but with the stupid HOA (homeowner's association) having Lucy parked in my yard for 13 days isn't allowed. Besides once she's parked here I get to packing and then the Road Fever is so intense I usually just go.
The weather here in AZ has been a dream this summer so why leave now? I miss my peeps! That's why.

Silver Sisters!

On to the next Destination
Okay so I am a little implusive!

Pismo Beach

Just the beginning of our table decor.

Santa Barbara; best camp spot ever!

Debra & Kristiana: Silver Sister's Rock!

My beach residence. Walked right out the gate on the other side of this fence and I was on the beach.

Poor Rex, he's a trooper, little dude gets so tired these days.

Right outside my door Morro Rock...heaven.

Stage Coach Rv Park, Banning

Back from 18 days on the road, think I have recovered, finally. What a dream trip! I had not been to that part of the California Coast, I just kept thinking 'I am so glad I am here'. Met some amazing people, talented Airstream women who I hope will stay in my life.

Started my journey by heading West on I-10, stopping over night in Banning, just outside Palm Springs. Stayed at a mellow laid back park KOA Stage Coach Rv Park, it was just what I needed before heading into the traffic of LA, which on a Sunday was not bad, I got lucky I cause on the way home it was a whole 'nother story.

Once I saw the Ocean up byt Mussel Shoals I was happy as well a clam! The place I stayed in Santa Barbara, costly as it was could not be beat. Ocean Mesa is a top notch, first class park. Pretty sure I had the best spot for the 4 nights I was there. Had time to relax, get my beach mode going before the short drive to Pismo Beach to meet up with the Silver Sisters.

Arrived at Pismo mid day Thursday, I had time to get set up, go for a bike ride before Meredith arrived a bit later. Town was so close to the rv park, I was in heaven, I didn't drive my truck the entire time I was there! While I cruised the streets of Pismo I stopped into a tattoo shop, just to see what up, that's where I found Milford, he would be doing a nice piece on me the next day. It was fate, he's a Traila Boy himself, and a cutie at that....what can I say he had me at tattoo.

The other women arrived one by one. It was so wonderful to meet everyone I had seen on the air forums. I felt grateful to be apart of this gathering.

After Pismo I cruised on up to Morro Bay, stayed at the State Park there one night, Loved it there but they book up so one night was all Debra & I could get side by side, too bad but again fate cause we moved on to Morro Dunes Rv Park. What a treasure on the beach. Paid for 2 nights then ended up staying a week.
I wasn't looking forward to the drive home so to get it over with I did in one day, 11 long hours.

Happy to be home. I wasn't in my driveway more than 10 minutes when my friend Laura pulled up to say hello, she happen to be in the hood. What a great welcome home.

4CU Strikes Again

The Peeps

More Peeps

Pretty pretty silver!

Gather around the campfire for warmth.

"I tell ya this is what happened"

Dude, Tow Vechile trouble? I have the ultimate set of tools I can so fix it!

Another amazing Rally with the 4 Corners Unit of the Airstream Club. Around 30 trailers made the trek to Dead Horse Ranch State Park in Cottonwood, AZ.
Got to connect with old friends and made new friends as well. We have such fabulous people in this group! Some pictures still to loaded they are in the camera which is in the Airstrem which is in the shop....again....I could rant about that rv "service" shop but its just not worth it.
5 nights of fun, food, too much Spam, ew and oh that M-Ball gets me every time.
This was the 1st trip without Shane, we missed her but Rex & Hannah are the best campers, at one point I forgot Rex was even there, he slept so much. Hannah never leaves my side and loves everyone and I think people feel the same about her, with expection of Hunter the Giant Schnauzer, they just can't find their peace, not yet anyway. Hunter has a pair of low hangers...yes you heard me correctly, think they scare my little girl. It's all good tho.
I so look forward to the next 4CU rally!

Sad Sad Day

In front of our Seattle home, Doggies love the snow!
Shane...Jewish Dogs can wear red once in a while, ya?

Camping; Vicky & Sue's; Port Angeles, WA. Feb 07

Sunning herself on our front porch in Seattle. Lots of people going by, cool things to check out.

The last camping trip New Year's 09.

Back in the fall of 1997 I was visiting a friend in Winlock, Washington. We were sitting on her sofa drinking our morning coffee when I heard a dog cry a terrible cry. I went out to the porch to see this cute little puppy looking like she had been hit by a car. She had the sweetest look on her face as if to say help me I so need love. I picked up up, brought her into the house, I saw she had tags on that read Shasta and had a phone number. I tried that number all day, no one answered. I walked her around town (very small town) to see if anyone knew her, no one did. My friend owned a local bar there in Winlock surely someone would know this dog. My friend's niece a girl of about 10 finally said "Oh yes I know the family that owns that dog and they are mean people." Out of the mouths of babes. Late that evening the phone rang, the person on the other line said "You have that damn dog?" Well, in my usual fashion I had a few cocktails in me and replied "I don't know what you are talking about"
First thing the next morning I grabbed up "Shasta" who would not let me leave her side all night, and hit the road back home to Seattle. She was such a good girl in the car, we stopped at rest stops for her to do her thing. I didn't even have a leash for her but she was an angel.
I had been going threw a rough patch in my life to say the least. My father had died in an accident at age 55 that May. I had recently left the devil encarnet I had been living with, taken Rex (Shiba Inu) and moved in with my mom until the lease was up with the idiot who was renting my condo from me. The last thing I needed was another dog. I don't think I was even working then, being as my emotional and physical state was very shaky after months of abuse.
I called my mom, told her I was coming home and bringing someone with me. I was worried that Rex would not take to the new dog as he was quite the dick back then. And mom dealing with more of my antics was a concern as well.
I got back home, let "Shasta" and Rex meet, began the process of finding a new name for my baby girl. Shasta was just not going to work for me. I wanted something that would be similar as not to confuse her too much. Not sure how I came up with Shane but after bouncing some names around it just stuck. I was thinking of the movie Shane, an old western, at the end of the movie a little boy tells the main character "Shane come back Mom loves you too" It just fit.
I never knew exactly what breed Shane was but as a puppy she sure looked Rottweiler! What a love, Shane gave the best kisses of any dog I've ever known. I immediately took her to the vet to have her checked out, little did I know that would be the first of so many. She was in bad shape but with love she would recover her initial wounds. I was to find out within her 1st year with me that she was allergic to all types of grass, oy-vey, years of dealing with Shane's allergies was a chore. She is a stubborn girl and hated meds of any kind!
Rex, Shane & I moved out of mom's and back into my condo. My downstairs neighbor was not thrilled to have a rottweiler living above him but we managed, the condo was right on a river walk so lots of exercise was in order to me and my two pups. Rex & Shane dragged me when we walked, at the time I weighed a whopping 110 pounds if that! People always said to me "Who is walking who" I would hear that for years to come!
We didn't stay in the condo long, I bought a nice ranch house in Woodinville to be closer to my mom who at this time had come down with breast cancer. Life was sure testing me and my family. In true Julianne fashion I made my new house cozy, fenced the yard and got to work on many projects to make the house my own. Not too long after that I was at the driving range, hitting golf balls with an on again off again boyfriend when we saw a sign that read "Great Dane Puppies" Oh no, you know where this is going. I found Hannah there, she had already been named by the breeder who wanted to keep her but her husband did not. A week later we had a new addition to the family and that is how it remainded until last Thursday.
My mom passed October 2001, the cancer had spread throughout her body, she was 59.
I took my family of pooches and moved to Port Angeles, Washington where I built a beautiful (huge) cedar home right on the bluff over looking The Straight Of Juan de Fuca across to Victoria, Canada. I didn't know a soul, had just broken up with yet another boyfriend, my last musician! I immediately got a job at a little bar I had heard about when buying the light fixtures for my new home. I stayed at that bar tending job until I moved 3 years later. I made a few amazing friends in PA that I adore to this day. But small town wasn't my scence and I needed to move back to Seattle, Ballard to be exact. It was the place I had lived the longest as an adult and I missed its quirkiness with a passion. I found my house on Sunset Hill on Halloween, packed up the PA house and left with a WOOHOO!
Our new house had a large fenced in yard, huge by Seattle standards. I added a waterfall to the backyard and we were home for the next 3 years. The dogs loved being back in Seattle, we had the best neighborhood for walking and soon we were known all over. Shane even went to the local wine bar with me and sat under my bar stool from time to time (we could walk there). Every morning we did a two mile walk around the places I had grown up, Hiram Locks, Shilshole Bay and downtown Ballard. We were happy until the weather got to me, all that walking in the rain got depressing.
In March 2007 I packed up once again and moved my family to Surprise, Arizona where we are today. Once again I didn't know a soul but nearly two years later I have an amazing group of friends. I believe this is where I am meant to be at this piont in my life.
The loss of Shane after so many adventures is huge. She is missed every time I go to the cookie jar! I still grab 3 not 2 but its only been a few days.
I know Shane is waiting for us to join her, I told her we would see her again soon, until then she has a lot of my family with her.
