Happy Birthday to my Baby!

Hannah at our Seattle house, up or down, which way to go?
This last March at the Silver Sister's Rally, getting a visit from Sonnet.

Nappy time in the Airstream.

Today is Miss Hannah P's 11th Birthday! Some people thought I was crazy to get a Great Dane puppy when I already had two other dogs under the age of two but I had always wanted a Great Dane since seeing my first one when I was around age 7, riding in my mom's car threw Bellevue, WA.

One spring day May 1999 in Woodinville, WA I was going back home after hitting balls at the driving range with my friend Scott when I spotted the sign Great Dane puppies. Sure I probably should have kept on driving but PLEASE how could I resist? I met the breeder, she let us sit with the pups and Hannah came and sat in my lap, she had beautiful blue eyes and was the only Merle colored one in the litter. I was in love.

I went home, thought about, talked to my mom about getting another dog. Mom was a total enabler :) I can't remember now if it was the same day or the next I called the breeder and asked to visit Hannah again, this time taking Mom and I think Shanda too. It was a done deal, Hannah was mine. The breeder had wanted to keep her and had given her the name Hannah, her husband said no that two Dane's in their house was enough. I was happy to keep the name Hannah, a good German name.

Here we are 11 years later. I have had the pleasure of being Hannah's companion, she has brought so much love and happiness to my life. 11 is old for a Dane and it shows, I don't know how much longer she will be with me and that's okay because we've had a great life together.

Happy Birthday Hannah! Momma loves you.
